I have over thirty years of experience in nursing and healthcare through leadership, educational, and consulting roles. From 2011-2015 I was executive director for clinical quality and nursing at Johns Hopkins Medicine International. In this role I worked with clients to assess their current state against their goals, and to develop and implement programs to strengthen their health care organizations.
My clinical background is mostly in oncology nursing, and I spent much of my career at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins in management and leadership positions. Project management and broader nursing issues were part of my portfolio as the first Magnet Project Coordinator at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. I am proud to have helped our nurses meet the standard of excellence of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® in 2003. I also had the opportunity to work within the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing for six years. During that time I led the Institute for Johns Hopkins Nursing, an ANCC-accredited provider of continuing nursing education, and established its Office of Global Nursing.
I have studied and worked in the UK and US. I have a Bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Sussex, a diploma in nursing from the Princess Alexandra School of Nursing at the Royal London Hospital, and a Master’s degree in acute care and management from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
